● Intonation is the rise, fall and fall-rise of the voice when speaking.

● Just as words have stressed syllables, sentences have regular patterns of tones: rising tone, falling tone and mixed tomes.

● Our voice tends to rise, fall, remain flat or sometimes gets mixed up depending on the meaning we want to convey or the feeling we express: happiness, excitement, surprise, anger, boredom, interest, gratitude, sympathy, fear,...

● Intonation is about how we say things, at least as important as what we say.

Syllable- definition

A syllable is a single unit of speech consisting of a vowel sound.

Syllabification- definition

Syllabification is the division of words into syllables.

Example

(i) Monosyllabic words: These are words with one syllable. These words have just one vowel sound.

Example:

         1.An /ən/ /æn/,    2.able /ˈeɪbl/,    3.apple /ˈæpl/,    4.sword /sɔːd/

(ii)Disyllabic words: These are words with two syllables. These words have two vowel sounds.

Example:

(iii) Trisyllabic words: These are words with three syllables. These words have three vowel sounds.

Q: Are you a foodie?

A: Yes, of course I am. To be frank everyone is a foodie and so am I because food is the most important part of life.

Q: I very much appreciate your frank admission of your love for food. Many don’t admit their fondness for food. Would you like to be a food blogger?

A: Well, given an opportunity I’d like to become a food blogger.

Q: Opportunities are always there. You must grab them. First of all you must have a passion for food blogging. Do you have it?

A: I have a lifelong passion for food blogging. I am waiting for the right moment.

Q: Now is the right moment. If you want to pursue your lifelong passion you must start right now. Otherwise you never.

A: I start right now. Could you give me some tips?

Q: Do you want to start a Food Blog for money?

A : Mm no, I don’t. Cooking has been my most cherished hobby since my school days. Whenever I find time I try different recipes and share with family, friends and neighbors. Almost every Saturday is a food festival in my house. I cook delicious foods and treat my colleagues,friends and neighbors to lunch, sometimes dinner, too.

Q: Oh, really! When’s the next food festival.I shouldn’t miss it. I’m a mighty eater, too.

A: Promotion of veganism primarily.

Q: Veganism! I appreciate your good intentions. Veganism or vegetarianism- both habits have their health benefits: reduction of obesity and the risk of heart diseases, regulation of blood pressure and reduction of the risk of diabetes, the most commonly cited benefits. But I very much doubt whether your good intentions will work.

A: True, what you say is true but I have the confidence I’ll get followers because people are more health conscious than they were before.

Q: Well, then you can go ahead with your Food Blogging. Here are some useful tips.

❖ Have a collection of some forty delicious recipes from popular chefs.Optimize the taste of each by making changes for the better.
❖ Taste your food yourself first and then share with family, friends and make sure everybody loves your food.
❖ Present your dish at Master Chef Competitions and listen to comments, both positive and negative.
❖ Take steps to ensure that a good number of people visit your site and follow you.
❖ Name your blog and buy a matching domain name.
❖ It is good to have a short, easy to spell and descriptive name for your blog.
❖ Launch your blog in the presence of some few popular chefs and media reporters.
❖ Set up Google Tools.
❖ Publish your most favourite recipes supported by photos and videos of people relishing on your luscious dishes.
